TRUMP and WHCA ban legitimate media from inauguration.

WASHINGTON, DC (Herald de Paris) ‚ÄĒ¬†¬†The Trump Transition Team and White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) have effectively banned and denied long-standing select legitimate White House Correspondents and media agencies from covering the inauguration, and the first days at least of the incoming administration.

It seems that everything is business as usual in DC where the swamp is far from being drained it is actually being made embraced.  It is the American people and permanent American residents who get hurt .

How have the WHCA and White House done this?

In an email released yesterday by the WHCA , the WHCA and the White House have denied entry to all but journalists who hold existing hard passes ‚Äď permanent access to the White House.¬† Who grants these hard passes?¬† Nobody knows, exactly, but the decision seems to reside between the White House, the White House Press Office, and the WHCA, itself.

Yesterday‚Äôs decision denies legitimate ¬†news outlets, journalists, photographers, and videographers ‚Äď some of whom have been cleared to cover the White House on a daily basis on day passes for months, even years without a hard pass ‚Äď the opportunity to cover the inauguration and first few days of the incoming administration and possibly longer.

This also denies the American people the right to insights from many independent legitimate news outlets, including many established digital sources.  Not fake news, but established digital news.

Here at the Herald de Paris, we have a policy not to report on anything we have not witnessed first-hand.  It goes against the root of what the Herald de Paris stands for. We will not be present.  One of our photographers’ photo agencies, one of the largest in the world, will also not be present. It makes no sense.

It will be interesting to see if an exception will be applied to organizations such as Breitbart, a news organization formerly run by incoming Trump White House staffer Steve Bannon.

It is also hard to imagine non-hard pass holders such as Rachel Maddow, Megyn Kelly, and reporters with the new assignment to cover the Trump Administration, from any one of dozen major print newspapers or broadcasters, not there.  According to the letter from the WHCA yesterday, they, too, would be denied access.  Effectively, the only correspondents who can legitimately attend the inauguration under these rules are the same old swamp ridden, bought and paid for reporters who are members of the WHCA, who already held hard passes under the Obama administration .

Yet again, the WHCA looks out only for itself. In order for this ‚Äúdeal‚ÄĚ to have worked both the WHCA and incoming Trump administration must have been complicit. If they were not, the WHCA, would be jumping up and down on behalf of reporters and professional photographers everywhere. They are not. Quite the opposite. The WHCA are purposefully trying to shut down and bully anyone who raises the points we are. In¬†fact, we have been taken off the list to receive pool reports because of our opposition to yesterday‚Äôs decision. Hardly appropriate. Clearly the WHCA needs to read the US Constitution when it comes to Freedom of Press.

Amendment One reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
