John Wegorzewski, born in Toronto on 25 July, 1950, passed away in New York City on 11th September 2016. He passed away peacefully, with the blessings of close friends and family.

Mr. Wegorzewski was one half of the talented New York and Southampton Publicity firm, Alchmia Pubic Relations and Marketing. John’s co-founder and partner, noted NYC and Hollywood Publicist Edward Callaghan, passed away peacefully in April, 2015.

Both gentlemen carried themselves with the dignity of a bygone era, and well known and accepted members of high society and beyond. John and Edward were much loved by those close to them and cherished and respected by their many clients from NYC to Southampton, and from Miami to the sunny hills of California. Johnny and Edward specialised in publicity and marketing for fine arts, major art festivals, jewelery designers, entertainment and philanthropy.  Alchimia also represented the Polish Embassy in New York, on occasion.

Johnny was a respected fine jewelry designer and couture accessories consultant prior to founding Alchmia with Mr. Callaghan.

Of Polish descent, John was also known as a dancer in his native Canada, and won a Bronze Medal in Edmonton one year. John was also an affecianado of military  history.

John was a devoted Catholic.  Both John and Edward volunteered as ushers at Churches in NY and Southampton.

John is survived by his loving mother Mary, sisters Kristine, Rozia, his twin sister Maria, his daughter Alicia and her husband Adam.  John is also survived by his close friends, who he considered his New York family.

John was interred at his family plot in Canada.  A Memorial will be held on Monday, 24 October, 2016 in New York City.

Note from Contributing Editor, actress, and director Anna Wilding: We lost a very dear friend in Johnny.  In fact Johnny was one of my truest and closest friends. We met at the Broadway Awards in New York over a decade ago, on the red carpet, and never looked back. Our friendship spanned countries, from New Zealand and Australia, to New York, from California to Southampton. Johnny, Edward, and I were a constant prescence in each others lives. Both gentlemen were a rare breed, and are surely missed.

I am devastated. John and I were friends since 1984. We talked all the time…in May, July and August 2016…he never mentioned he was sick and when I called on 9/11… we always spoke on 9/11 because we spent that day in his NY apartment watching the entire tragedy unfold on TV.. and did not get a call back I instinctively turned to the internet only to find his obituary I carry a great emptiness with me knowing that we won’t be laughing about life with Edward cheering us on. I am devastated.
